The Lost City 2022 Film Review

Sandra Bullock as Loretta Sage, a successful yet depressed best-selling romance novelist. Bullock also plays Dr. Angela Lovemore, the heroine in her book series.

Channing Tatum as Alan Caprison, a dimwitted cover model for Loretta’s novel The Lost City of D. Tatum also plays Dash McMahon, the heroic main character in her book series.

Daniel Radcliffe as Abigail Fairfax, an eccentric billionaire and international criminal who captures Loretta in the hopes she will lead him to an ancient city’s lost treasure featured in one of her books.

Loretta Sage is a reclusive middle-aged author who writes romantic adventure novels revolving around a fictional hero named Dash McMahon, played by cover model Alan Caparison.

Her newsagent, Beth Hatten, insists she must embark on a book tour with Alan to promote his latest work.

After a disastrous start, largely due to the popularity of the character Alan’s Dash, Loretta is captured by a kidnapper named Abigail Fairfax.

A billionaire who realizes that Loretta has based her books on real history research she did with her late archaeologist husband.

He has discovered a lost city on a remote island in the Atlantic Ocean and is convinced that this is where the “crown of fire”.

A priceless treasure. When Loretta refuses to help decipher an ancient treasure map, Fairfax, who fears an active volcano might destroy the site, chloroforms Loretta and takes her to the island.

Alan, secretly in love with Loretta, witnesses her abduction. 

He recruits Jack Trainer, a former Navy SEAL turned CIA agent, to meet him on the island and coordinate a rescue effort. 

Jack, without Alan’s help, breaks into Fairfax and frees Loretta, but is shot in the head before they can reach the airport, forcing Loretta and Alan to flee into the woods.

Loretta and Alan spend a day battling Fairfax’s minions before arriving in a nearby village, where, upon hearing a local folk song, Loretta deduces that the crown is hidden in a pitfall in the forest. 

Before the two can leave, Fairfax recaptures Loretta, followed by a chase by Alan to rescue Loretta. The pair were then forced to share the location of the treasure with Fairfax. 

Arriving at the scene, they discovered the tomb but realized it was not a monument to Kalman’s power but the Queen’s hiding place to mourn her husband and her “fire crown” was made of colored seashells. 

Red was buried with her husband by her husband. The true treasure of legend is not a priceless jewel but the inseparable love between king and queen. 

Enraged, Fairfax forces them into the mausoleum as the volcano erupts, but Rafi, one of the henchmen, changes his mind and leaves behind a crowbar to help them escape before abandoning Fairfax on the Island. 

Beth arrives with the local coast guard and Fairfax is arrested. Loretta’s next book, based on their adventures, was a hit, and she and Alan shared a kiss while on vacation.

In a mid-credits scene, Jack, after surviving a murder plot, joins a yoga class with Loretta and Alan, surprising them.
